Bobby L. Loyd, 76, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday at Glen Haven Memory Gardens with the Rev. Wiley Levrett officiating and with Military Honors. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.
Mr. Loyd, son of the late Herman F. and Mary Lou Street Loyd, was born in Thomaston and served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He attended the Church of God and was an avid musician. Mr. Loyd was preceded in death by his son, Roger Lynn Loyd, his brothers and a sister, Robert Loyd, Harold Loyd and Linda Beall.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hayslip of Byron; two sons, Michael (Patty) Loyd of Eastman and Keith (Vicki) Loyd of Ray City; three stepdaughters, Connie Brown of Byron, Carolyn Morrissey and Karen Meadows, both of Macon; three sisters, Edna Thompson of Lizella, Betty Harris of Macon and Dorothy Cranford of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
