Barbara Spear Yates, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00pm until the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northridge Baptist Church, 2360 Gray Highway, Macon, 31211.
Barbara was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Marcus Chester Spear and Inez Johnson Spear and was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Clarence L. Yates. She was a bookkeeper with Robins Air Force Base and Dixie Metal Construction. Barbara was a member of Northridge Baptist Church, active in the Baptist Village community and was an avid walker. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her children, Karen (Mark) Coleman, Allen L. (Deborah) Yates and Evan M. Yates; grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Valenziano, Ashley (Derek) Bulmer, Jesica Shipley and Dustin Shipley; great grandchildren, Alyssa and Cassidy Valenziano and Ella and Bo Bulmer; and sister, Joe Ann Knight.
