Barbara Jean Bates, 73, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2 o'clock, in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery, led by Rev. Barbara was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Wallace B. Bates, Sr. and Margaret Gray Bates. She was a graduate of Margaret McEvoy High School and had most recently worked for Georgia Power. Mrs. Bates was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church and their Women of Wesley Bible Study Group. Barbara had a big heart, always concerned over others and making sure that they had the things they needed. She will be loved and remembered by everyone with the fortune to have known her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amber Harrington; brothers, Wallace (Ginger) Bates, Jr., and Randy (Cathey) Bates; beloved grandson, Brian Harrington; aunt, Audrey Gray; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
