Steven R. Peters

Steven Richard Peters, died at home on June 15, 2018 after a long battle with illness. Born February 9, 1957 to Walter and Patricia Peters, Steve was a native of Rockford, IL. He enjoyed model trains, John Deere tractors, fishing, NASCAR racing, and loved dogs. After graduating from West High School in 1975, he made his career in the automotive repair industry. Steve’s favorite pastime was being a member of the Rockford Speedway safety crew for many years.

Predeceased by his grandparents and parents, Steve is survived by life partner and best friend, Marianne Peters; daughters, Nikki (Richard) Jarrett, Kristi (Jacob) Rodenbeck, and Steffani (Adam) Hipp; grandchildren, Hailee and William Jarrett, Melody and Lincoln Hipp; sister Linda (Bill) Piccirilli; brother Brian (Renee) Peters; 4 nieces, 2 nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial gathering for Steve will be held on Friday, June 22 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home (8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115).
