Shirley Daugherty, age 88, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 27, 1936 to Lila (Blunk) and James Bartelson. She was married to the love of her life, Robert Daugherty in 1967.
Shirley had many hobbies, she played cards, mostly Cribbage, made ceramic pieces, crocheted, and loved cooking. She also liked to spend time outside, boating, fishing, tending to her plants and flowers, and
feeding the squirrels on her deck. She would spend her winters in Florida and her summers in Illinois.
Shirley is survived by her children, Kathleen Zanzinger, Kimberley Daugherty, and James Daugherty; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daugherty; special friend and caretaker, Richard Jones; parents, Lila and James Bartelson; and sibling Lois, Jerry, and Don.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
