Richard Carlson, 67, of Rockford IL passed away September 26, 2020. He was born March 2, 1953 to Carl and Virginia Carlson in Rockford. He was a man who worked hard and had a vision to create his unique signature on every project he touched.
Richard was a deeply devoted dad and a loving grandfather. He spent the majority of his career as a machinist, but his passions lied with his auto mechanic, paint, and body work. Richard had an adventurous life filled with random road trips that made his stories humorous and timeless classics to be remembered as chapters in his book. He was known to pop in with a thoughtful gift or just to stop by and say hi. Richard loved the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, vintage drag racing, and car shows. He was a man who loved his dogs, the lake, his life, and his sports teams, but above all else he loved his family.
He is survived by his children; Mickey (Aaron) Ryall, and Rick “Bud” (Amber) Carlson Jr. grandchildren; Kara, Madison, Kayla, and Richard, as well as his brother; Steve Carlson.
He is predeceased by his parents; Carl and Virginia, his brother; John “Jack” Carlson, and his dogs, Chewy and Molly.
Funeral Services for Richard are scheduled for Friday, October 2nd at 2PM at Sunset Funeral Home. 8800 N. Alpine Rd. Machesney Park IL 61115. A limited walk thru visitation will be held at 1PM until the time of service.
