Raymond J. Hodges

Raymond Hodges Jr., 98, of Rockford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday May 4, 2018. Born November 7, 1919 in Lafayette Township, IL. Son of Raymond and Bessie (Grover) Hodges. Veteran of the United States Army Air Corp having served in England during WWII. United in marriage to Leona Mae Rager on June 15, 1946. She predeceased him on September 21, 2015. Member of First Lutheran Church in Rockford, American Foundry Society and the American Legion. Was the first Foundry employee of Olson Aluminum Castings having worked for over 40 years. Found enjoyment in playing cards, fishing, yardwork and most of all time spent with family and friends. Lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Survived by children, Terry (Pam) Hodges, Joyce (Bud) DiPuma, Valerie (Scott) Stroup, Marjorie (Brad) Lindmark; grandchildren, Jamie Strecker, Lori Hodges Davison, Mandy (Joe) Reimann, Lisa (Rogelio) Gonzalez, Dan (Maria) DiPuma, Nickolas Stroup, Benjamin Stroup, Audi Stroup, Zach Lindmark, Anna Lindmark; great-grandchildren, Chaz Strecker, Allie Strecker, Bobby (Michele) Mounts, Kyle Davison, Ellie Reimann, Lydia Reimann, Joey Reimann, Paolo Gonzalez, Julian DiPuma, Sebastian DiPuma; great-great-grandchild, Landon Mounts. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Leona; siblings, Larena, Grover, Dale, Elmer, Willis, Paul Raymond and Robert.

Funeral service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 12 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park. Visitation at 12:30 until time of service. Burial following Military Honors in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
