Marlene Grace Cagnoni, age 96, of Loves Park, Illinois passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born on September 29, 1927 to Grace V. (Schultz) and Frank F. Lindsay in Rockford, Illinois. She married Louis A. Cagnoni in 1945 and they spent many years together before he passed in 2013.
Marlene enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening her wildflowers, visiting the Ottertail Marsh Bottoms, and watching the wrens from her screened in porch. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking. Most of all, Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family.
Marlene is survived by her children, Mark Cagnoni and Drusilla (Alexander Jacobs) Cagnoni; granddaughter, Risa (Gabino Mijangos Baez) Cagnoni-Jacobs; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Grace Lindsay; siblings, Colleen Culbertson, Ronald Lindsay, David Lindsay, and Terry Lindsay; husband, Louis A. Cagnoni; and son, Gary R. Cagnoni.
A funeral service for Marlene will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115. Marlene will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115-2277 following the service.
