Larry Clinton Symons, age 76, of Roscoe, Illinois passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He was born October 14, 1947 in Rockford, Illinois to Cecelia Thelma (Aspenson) and Lawrence Alfred Symons. Larry graduated from Harlem High School before starting his career as a lineman and crew leader with Commonwealth Edison. He married the love of his life, Sharon Kay Mueller. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association.
Larry enjoyed listening to country and blues music, watching Westerns like Gunsmoke, and doing puzzles. He liked working on cars when he was younger. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry was very proud of his service in the Navy and his time at ComEd.
He is survived by his children, Clint Symons of Madison, WI and Christina Symons of Rockford, IL; grandchildren, Keaton Symons of Machesney Park, IL, Matthew Larson of Farmington, MO, Brooke Symons of Rockford, IL, Nathan Larson of Farmington, MO, Carrie Steele, and Deacon Steele of Rockford, IL; great-grandchildren, Zaedyn Bauer, Kavaiah Sams, Ka’vetta Sams, Neighlynn Sams, and De’lonzo Sams; siblings, Richard Symons of Machesney Park, IL and Deborah Aumann Modawell of Talladega, AL; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Kay Symons; son, Jeffrey Milton Symons; parents, Cecelia and Lawrence Symons; and step-father, Milton Bernard Aumann.
A visitation for Larry will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 8800 North Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois 61115, followed by a celebration of life funeral service at 11:00 AM.
