Jean V. Fisher, 91, of Rockford, IL, passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, April 2, 2022. He was born in Crystal Springs, North Dakota, the son of Jean V. and Minnie (Larson) Fisher. Jean proudly served in the United States Army for 6 years and during that time was stationed in Germany and Korea. He owned and operated Jean’s Painting and Decorating for 50 years and was part of the Painter’s Union for 45 years. Jean was a member of the SM & SF Club, Blackhawk Club, Eagle’s Club, Moose Club and the Harmony Club. Jean was known for coordinating the monthly herring breakfast and was known to many as the “Herring King.” He enjoyed fishing, hunting and had a terrific green thumb while tending to his gardens. Jean loved going gambling and playing lotto, scratch off tickets and pull tabs. Most of all, he adored his family and spending time with them.
Jean is loved and missed by his daughters, Jean Olivencia and Julie (Kenneth J.) Canty; step-children, Beverly Joyce and Jerry Deegan; grandchildren, Cristina (Erik), Jose “Ricky” (Abby), Joseph (Brenda), Raquel, Lewis, Angel, Danielle (Amad), Christopher (Nache) and Artia; great-grandchildren, Faith, Elyssa, Jazmin, Jaxon, Trinity, Thailia, Leela, Rayna, Kai, Angel, Jr., Elijah, Isaiah, Lyiah, Xavier, Aniyah, Zion, Matthew, Tyana, Everly, Anyah, Amad, Julius and Emmeline; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cherie Fisher; brother, John and sisters, Joyce, Fern and Darlene.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Rd, Machesney Park, IL 61115 with a funeral service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Private burial will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
