Herbert "Herbie" Charles Schulz, 95, of Janesville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in New Glarus, Wisconsin, on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11, 2024. Herbert was born January 13, 1929, in Rockford, Illinois, to Richard and Wanda Schulz. He attended Rockford East High School. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a National Defense Service Medal as a Corporal. He married the love of his life, Charlotte King on August 1, 1970. Herbert was the president and co-owner of Rockfast Inc. for 30 years. Herbert was a member of Fulton Church for 25 years, in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Herbie was a natural born athlete, an Army Navy Marine Champion Boxer in Okinawa, a semi-pro football player for the Golden Eagles, and Class A Tennis player. He was a carver of butterflies, whirly gigs, and ducks. He had a heart for the church, and gave many of his butterflies and whirly gigs away.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte; children, Phillip (Jodie) Schulz, and Stephanie (Tom) Whitney; 6 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Schulz.
He was preceded in death by his daughter; Kathleen Emma Schulz; first wife, Cecelia (Dobel) and infant son, Michael Schulz; parents, Richard and Wanda; siblings, Arthur (Marge) Schulz, Fredrick (Shirley) Schulz, Hilbert (JoAnn) Schulz, and Helen (Frank) Calacurcio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Fulton Church Mortgage Fund.
