DOROTHY J. TOWNSEND, 82 MACHESNEY PARK- Dorothy J. Townsend, 82, of Machesney Park, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Fair Oaks Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Born Dorothy Jean Gerbode on February 28, 1932 in Rockford, IL. Daughter of Florence Gifford. Married Charles “Charlie” Townsend June 2, 1956 in Rockford, IL. Dorothy was a graduate of East High School, and an active member of Eastern Star. Dorothy recently ended her working career as the office manager at JEFCO Screw. Dorothy enjoyed square dancing, ceramics, and traveling throughout her life. Dorothy was a warm and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind many cherished memories, her daughter Wendy (Tom) Kueck, son Burt (Yvonne) Townsend, grandchildren Robert (Elizabeth) Marx, Lesley Earles (Jamie McLeod), Danielle Townsend, Spencer Townsend, Dianne Kueck (Kendall Gelner), and James Kueck, great-grandchildren Hannah Marx, Jameson McLeod and Seamus Earles-McLeod, sisters Margarite Ralston and Janice Porter, special friends Alyssa Novak and Amber Campos, her wonderful nurse Deb, and many dear family and friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Charles Townsend, mother Florence Gifford, and brothers Thomas and Donald Carlson. Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation. Services will be held at 10am on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Freedom Through The Word Church with Pastor Jack Wilcox officiating. Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens following services at 11:30am.
