Richard A. “Rick” Koziol, 76, a resident of Star Harbor, Texas formerly of Beaver Falls, PA, passed away peacefully in Athens, Texas on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Richard was born the son of Marion A. Koziol Sr. and Victoria Zwierzchon Koziol in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on April 9, 1942. He met and married Delores J. Koziol on October 12, 1991, twenty six years to his passing. Upon graduating in 1959 from Beaver Falls, PA High School, joined the U.S. Army. Serving thirty five years to his beloved country, during those years he was in Germany for two tours and served in the Vietnam War. Richard was also based in Korea. He served in the Special Forces and as a Green Beret. He attained many military awards of meritorious and commendations. Richard was awarded the Order of St. George as a distinguished Knight for his long and honorable service to the Army and Calvary. He rode with the Black Horse Stables and was a distinguished member of California National Guard. Retiring in September of 1994, moving from California to Mesquite, Texas. Richard was employed with the City of Dallas Police Department as an Assistant Manager of the records department moving up as the Manager of records. During his employment there, he taught NCIC/TCIC to Dallas Policemen, then retiring in 2003. Richard was a member of VFW, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans Association. He was a volunteer of Corsicana Angels and Meals on Wheels in Malakoff, TX.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother Christopher Bielewicz.
He is survived by his loving wife Delores Koziol of Star Harbor, TX was a father of three; a daughter Virginia Koziol, son Anthony Koziol and son John Koziol, all of California, grandson Doug Briscoe (Amy) of Yuba City, CA, sister Irene Bielewicz Oravitz (Michael) of PA, sister Gloria Bielewicz (Jerry) of FL, three step-children; Jeffrey Hallam and Kevin Hallam of Fairfield, TX, Tammy Hallam Walker (Steve) of Frisco, TX.
