Larry remembered my girls and gave them rest on his property

My two girls, labs, were buried just steps away from Larry's henhouse. We walked it off and Larry wrote down the steps. He sifted the dirt with me. He knew how to send my babies off. What a great man he was.

Just remember the patience he had with my children, Katy and Tyler. Sheparding them through the ins and outs of High School Golf. He was a great teacher of Life lessons.

The celebration of Larry's life today was awesome. His sons, brother, and friends did exactly what Larry would have wanted I'm sure. And the slideshow was smiles-through-tears wonderful. The photos brought all of us to such fond memories and realizations of beyond the years we knew him. I believe Larry is one happy soul today. Free of pain, with loved ones, and joyous knowing he was loved so profoundly. God bless Jan and the family. We will miss him.

When our phone calls ran on at night, Larry would often tell me, "My bride has dinner ready." He would talk on about any topic, but he'd never go past Jan's dinner. He loved dinner with her. Those were exclusive moments for them. He loved Jan dearly.

Larry Flowers was such a giving person and truly loved by many including me, my husband Jim and Coco.  Larry helped rescue and care for so many dogs along with his beloved wife, Jan.  Larry was an incredibly kind man.  Larry was quite the storyteller and I enjoyed every one of them, some of them more than once!  I have the privilege of taking Coco to walk at the Flowers every weekend.  Coco though developed the habit of not leaving with Jan and I and the dogs for the walk instead she would patiently wait (well maybe not too patiently) for Larry to bring her to hook up with us to walk.  And if Coco was already walking and gunshots or thunder rings out, next thing you know Larry would automatically come to her rescue.  Coco is terrified of both.   I tried to explain to Coco just 2 nights ago, through my tears, that Larry will not be able to bring her to join us when we walk next time.  I told her to remember all of the times that he did and to be happy for that.  Please take comfort Jan and the entire Flowers family that Larry was much loved and will be sorely missed by all. My fondest memories are those of shared outings with Larry on the Golf course at Cedar Creek where he tried to teach me the fine points by setting a powerful example. Those were fine days when our bodies were able to handle a bit of rigor. As we all experience, those powers will fade away and the final step is eternal rest.  It was a good life you lived Larry and that is what we who are left behind will remember you by.

If we knew when our loved ones would pass, we would hold them a little tighter, tell them we love them a little more often, and spend more precious moments at their side.  I am glad Larry and I talked on Friday.   We laughed and caught up on his stories.  Larry filled my heart with his friendship.  Rest in Peace,  sweet man.   

Larry was the best golf coach ever for my kids. They loved him. He was funny, kind, and taught them everything he knew. They went to regional which was huge. 

When I worked at Mabank ISD Larry would always come by the library with a funny story, usually about Jan.  And when I was around Jan, she always told funny stories about Larry! The two of them complimented each other perfectly.  I loved listening to them fuss at each other. It was pure love .  

I've known you guys for almost 30 years and it's been wonderful to know you both. I'm so saddened by this.  Ellis and I send our love to you.
