by his side. Larry was born in Waxahachie, Texas on July 6, 1947 to Earl Franklin and Ruby Mae Metcalf

Dunn. “Hoss” to many and L.P. to some, he is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia; his daughter Lisa

Annette Furlano; his sons James Earl (Jed) and Cameron Blake Dunn; his cherished grandchildren,

Nicholas (Nic) James, Cameron (Cami) Bree, and Ella Madeline Furlano; his brothers, Tommy and Billy

Don (B.D.) Dunn and his wife Becky; his best friend of more than 60 years, Roger Fry; his extended

family, Jim and Annette McKee, and Paula and Dale Botsford, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Peggy Jean Alexander.

The words of Mary, his children and his life-long friend paint a portrait of Hoss’ humble character, sturdy

presence, and gentle mercy.

Mary Dunn: “Hoss was the greatest man I ever knew, a maker of men, a meticulous advisor who worked

to have a Christ-like family.”

Lisa Furlano: “My daddy may be ‘Hoss’ to everyone who knew him, but he was my daddy — the one and

only man in my life that taught me to work hard and find joy in everything.”

Blake Dunn: “He taught me everything in life most importantly that family is number one. That is how he

lived his life. I have never come across someone that held their family so high.”

Jed Dunn: “He was confident, loving, social, an all-knowing kind of guy. He was a man, a leader, a

teacher, a total boss. Most importantly, he loved God and his family constantly.”

From the third grade, Hoss shared hundreds of adventures and good times with his best friend, Roger

Fry, who wrote: “It was a blessing to call him my friend and be part of his life. God is calling his warriors

home and needs Larry there by his side. Heaven rejoices while we grieve.”

Hoss and Mary’s family is a monument to marriage. Their faithful example blessed those Mary refers to

as “the outlaws”; Lisa’s husband, Jeff Furlano; Jed’s wife, Kellyn; and Blake’s wife, Amber. Welcomed

into the Dunn family with unforgettable hugs, Amber, Kellyn, and Jeff loved Hoss like a father and will

miss him dearly.

Hoss was a born-again Christian and Deacon in the Baptist Church. He continued his father’s legacy of

building custom homes in north and east Texas, including the McKee-Dunn ranch home of his father and

mother-in-law, Buddy and Billie McKee, in Mabank, Texas. Mary says he passed his work ethic and pride

of work to his children. He had a deep love of animals, enjoyed playing golf and beating his friends at

poker. Hoss gathered many, many friends who will grieve the absence of this great man created in God’s

image.
