Requiem Mass for Joe Fuentes Castillo, 77, of Mabank, Texas will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Gun Barrel City, Texas with Rev. John-Mary Bowlin, Parish Priest. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas with the Vigil scheduled to begin at 6:30 pm.
Joe passed from this life at his home in Payne Springs, Texas surrounded by his loving family on April 22, 2024. He was born on March 2, 1947, to Leo and Jesusa (Fuentes) Castillo. Joe grew up in Devine and Earth, Texas attending Spring Lake-Earth High School. Following school, Joe joined the Army and proudly served this nation for 6 years. Joe was a very happy, upbeat person who loved to help others at any time. He was very talented in all things construction, enjoyed fixing cars and trucks and worked for many years as an HVAC technician. Joe liked singing, dancing, telling jokes and watching westerns during his free time. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1982, the American Legion and President of the Mexican American Baseball League in Dallas. Joe loved to play golf, to shoot pool and to visit casinos when the chance arrived.
Joe is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Leo and Jesusa Castillo; brothers: Raymond Castillo, Bobby Castillo, Baby Leo, Baby Johnny, Baby David; sisters: Vickie Camacho, Mary Howard and Noelia Ulibarri.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Eva Castillo; sons: George Castillo, Joe Castillo, Ishmael Castillo, JohnPaul Castillo, Michael Castillo, Adam Castillo, Steven Castillo; daughters: Rosemary Castillo, Elisa Castillo, Jeannette Pesqueda; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers: Leo Castillo, Jr., Wally Castillo, Roy Castillo, Rudy Castillo; sisters: Diana Ramos and Janie Arredondo.
Pallbearers will be Michael Castillo, Adam Castillo, Steven Castillo, Roy Castillo, Leo Castillo, Wally Castillo, Rudy Castillo and Adam Christopher Castillo.
Joe will be laid to rest at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
