Celebration of life services for Dora Jean Terrell, 91, of Athens, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, Texas with Pastor T. L. Taylor officiating. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
Jean passed from this life on October 7, 2024, surrounded by loving family. She was born on April 18, 1933, in Dallas, Texas to Herman and Lela Mae (Baxley) Everitt. Jean grew up in Dallas, Texas before graduating from high school at the impressive age of 14. She then married the love of her life, Odell Terrell, and was blessed with 69 and a half wonderful years together. Jean was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano/organ on a regular basis. During nice weather, you could always find Jean gardening or tending to her beautiful flower beds throughout her yard. Other times, Jean enjoyed painting as a form of expression and created lovely pieces of art. To rest, she adored a good book to relax with or shopping with friends and family.
Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Odell; son, Randal Terrell; parents: Herman and Lela Mae Everitt; twin sisters: Lorea, Florea; and brother, Derrell.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Chambers; son, Rick Terrell and wife Vandy; numerous cherished grandchildren, adored step-grandchildren, and treasured great grandchildren : daughter-in-law, Glenda Terrell; sister-in-law, Kaye Everitt; and dear family friends.
