Harold was born on July 20, 1957 in Dallas, Texas to parents Harold Ray and Bobbie Viola (Jones) Hughes Sr. and entered into eternal rest on August 19, 2018 at the age of 61. He graduated from Mabank High School. Harold worked for Affolder Tunneling Company for 20 years and then the City of Dallas. As an employee of the City of Dallas, he received Employee of the Year. Harold was known as “Weird Harold” and “PawPaw” by family and friends. Although “PawPaw” was his favorite name to be called. He liked History, loved cooking and entertaining. Harold loved taking care of everyone and he loved being with his family. While he was at the Mabank Nursing Home, he liked to calm the residents down. Harold also enjoyed having parties there; pizza, pie and watermelon were some of his favorites. Harold was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Kaufman, Texas and the Knights of Columbus, he would help with the carnival and ran the Bingo at church. Harold was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Erick Blake Hughes and sister Vickie Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife Darlene Hughes of Mabank, son Harold Hughes III of Bossier City, LA, daughter Melissa Holleman of Mabank, granddaughter Katlyn Hughes of Corsicana, granddaughter Gracie Holleman of Mabank, granddaughter Aubrie Holleman of Mabank, great-granddaugther Braylee Paslay of Corsicana, brother Larry Hughes of Terrell, sister Rosemary Bates of Terrell, brother Bobby Joe Hughes of Terrell, other loving family members and many more lifelong friends.
