Born on March 24, 1928, in Van Zandt County, Texas, Gaye was a daughter of the late Homer Ansolm McLauchlin and the late Letha Hebel McLauchlin.
Gaye married Sandy on December 24, 1944, in Kaufman County, Texas. Together they had one son, the late Michael Carl Barnett.
Along with her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by her five siblings: William Dugan McLauchlin, Helen McLauchlin Morris, Winona McLauchlin Hyde, her twin sister Jimmie Faye McLauchlin Anthony Dalman, and Sammie Jean McLauchlin Daniels.
“Aunt Gaye” is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her very much and would mourn her passing but wait for that Blessed Hope of being reunited in Heaven with her and other believers.
She gave her heart to the Lord at a young age and never turned back from serving Him. She was a faithful member of Mabank First Assembly of God Church. Aunt Gaye and Uncle Sandy were gifted singers, and they spent many hours visiting and singing with residents of nursing homes in the tri-county area, which was a ministry the truly enjoyed.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mabank, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Fritz Cravey, Daniel McDonald, Ben McDonald, Robin Lane, Troy Penix and Marsh Barnett.
