Ruxin Wang

In our most loving memory of Ruxin Wang (Cynda Wang) who went home to be with our Lord on March 26th, 2022 in Everett Washington. She passed away peacefully in her sleep and surrounded by her all her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuxiong Zhou and son Zuo Long Zhou, and survived by her children Zuomin Zhou and Zuohua Smedley, two grandchildren, and two great-grand children.

Ruxin was born August 28th, 1927 in Shanghai, China. In 1945 she graduated high school from McTyeire School (St. Mary) in Shanghai. One of her proud achievements was in 1947. She joined the first professional stewardess group for China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC). She married in 1948 to Chu-Xiong Zhou who was a pilot. After the birth of their eldest son Zuo-Long Zhou in 1949, Ruxin and Chuxiong went back to mainland China in 1950 with China Airline. In 1950 they had their second son Zuomin Zhou. In 1954 they had their daughter Zuo Hua Zhou. From 1952-1954 she taught Chinese Literature at Tianjin No.5 Women School. In 1954 Ruxin became a teacher and taught Chinese Literature and English at Tianjin No. 41 Middle School. From 1952 to 1956 she completed her Bachelor’s in Teaching at Tianjin Teacher’s College. From 1955-1987 she took on the role of People’s Representative for City of Tianjin. Between 1970-1973 she was sent to the countryside to work as a farmer during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Another extraordinary achievement in her life was for 22 years (1957-1979) while her husband was sent to the countryside due to Anti Rightist Movement (the judgement was overturned by the Government in 1979) she was a devoted, brave, and loyal mother who took care of her three children all on her own. Additionally, in 1984 she took on the role of General Secretary for the Tianjin Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA). In 1987 she retired and came to live in United States. After retirement, Everett Community College invited her to be a teacher at the college and teach Mandarin Chinese from 2000-2007.

Ruxin will always be remembered by her steadfast character, a mediator with a loving temperament, and a teacher to all those around her. During her lifetime Ruxin loved to travel. Some of the places she traveled included: Alaska, Mexico, Rome, Vatican, Venice, Croatia, Barcelona, Turkey, Greece, Hawaii, and all-around U.S. She made countless delicious meals for her family. Chinese dumplings were her specialty. In addition, she had a passion for designing and creating her own clothes. Although she is no longer here on earth, she is with her husband on their new adventure in heaven.

A private family only memorial gathering is planned for Friday April 8th, 2022 at Purdy and Walter’s Floral Hill in Lynnwood Washington.
