On July 9th, Lyndell Jacobs of Bothell, was called home to be with Her Lord, ending a long and fulfilling life. She was born July 22, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Roger and Linell McAnnally, joined in 1942 by a brother and surrounded by a large extended family. Her father was transferred to Houston, Texas in 1944, where she grew up, until moving again in 1957 to Alhambra, California. During her school years in Texas, she excelled, earning The American Legion Distinguished Achievement Award. This Award was given in recognition of those high qualities of Honor, Courage, Scholarship and Leadership, while in Junior High School. Her activities and honors continued through out High School. After graduation in 1956, she attended Texas State College for Women, before moving to California. Again she was very involved in various groups and activities. She then attended Mt. San Antonio Junior College for one year, and Los Angeles State College, graduating in 1960. During her time there, she was again very active in many organizations, including elected to be Homecoming Princess in ‘59, while earning a B.A. in mathematics, with a science minor. Upon graduation, she was awarded the highest honor the college provided; Outstanding Woman On Campus, plus an honorary lifetime membership in the student body. For all her hard work, and activities, she was selected to be in the Who’s Who Among Students In American Universities And Colleges, for 1960.
In 1958, she met her future husband, and was married to Frank “Pat” Jacobs, August 27, 1960.
As they believed that being a mother was the most important job in the world, she decided to return to college for another year to obtain a teaching certificate, then planned to teach until they started a family. Their first child, Janelle, was born in April, 1963, and second daughter, Laurell, in April 1966. Lyndell was a life long seamstress, homemaker, mother and grandmother, a Camp Fire Girls leader and was an excellent cook. She and her husband were also involved in their church. Lyndell volunteered at Children’s Hospital (Seattle) for many years, after the tragic loss of daughter Janelle, at age 9, from Reyes Syndrome.
Her sewing was legendary, culminating in making daughter Laurell’s wedding dress in 1993. Her life was greatly enriched with the addition of 3 grandchildren over the next few years. In those later years, she became involved with Quilting! Making many quilts for her grandchildren and a number for babies and grand babies of friends. Lyndell and her husband also traveled to all 50 states, much of Canada, plus Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, New Zealand, and Australia.
She was preceded in death by her brother Perry, daughter Janelle., and survived by her husband “Pat”, daughter Laurell Ramirez and her husband Jeff, of Carnation, WA.. and grandchildren Riston Ramirez, of Boise, ID, Reyna Ramirez of Bozeman, MT, and Rylan Ramirez of Carnation, WA.
