She was born September 28, 1941 in Tacoma, WA and attended Stadium High School until her junior year. She attended her senior year at and graduated from Wilson High School. She also took some college courses of interest to her. She had played flute in school and recently had taken up practicing flute again, and when asked, she would play it in person or over the phone.
Harriett grew up in Tacoma and liked to tell family and friend stories including about visiting her dear grandmother.
She worked at Crystalike Photo in Tacoma, where she met and married her children’s father-to-be, subsequently raising three children. She often jokingly said to her children, “I met your father in a photo processing lab; we often worked together in the darkroom and things just developed from there!”
She volunteered at VA hospital and at the Senior Center in Edmonds. She worked as a nurse’s aide in Bothell where she met and worked for her dear nurse friend, Alma Kerr. Harriett also worked at Hallmark, home care for a lady at Cottage Lake, as a clerk at Pharmacy Drug Store and at Bothell Country Village’s “Toys That Teach,” an educational toy store.
Harriett had a devout faith, love and trust in God which she shared with everyone. She was very social and took great delight in talking with people--whether she knew them or not.
She learned a year and a half ago how to video chat with her 2-year-old grandson and family members.
Harriett loved to be outside, to see the water and the ferry and the mountains. Harriett had her favorite spots to travel to which included Whidbey Island, Poulsbo, Edmonds, Mukilteo, Seaside and Cannon Beach, Snohomish stores and countryside and airport to watch parachute jumpers, LaConner, Snoqualmie Falls, Port Gamble, Port Townsend, Leavenworth, and visiting relatives and friends anywhere. She liked to drive the backroads scenic routes. She liked and was good at finding the perfect unique gift for friends and family and always made sure they received special occasion gifts and cards before their special occasion day. She enjoyed doing various activities including knitting, making cards, ceramics, flower arranging, macramé, helping make quilts, bible study and church, music programs, movies, parties/get-togethers, making lunch for picnics, Scrabble and line dancing. She also loved to take photos and always had a camera in her hand or purse. She thoroughly loved helping people and gave of herself to multiple charities on a long-term basis.
Harriett is preceded in death by her father and mother, Hazel (Bradley) and Harry Lindsay and by her children’s father, James Toon.
