Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Carol Ann (St. Croix) Mason, and grew up in Lynn. He graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1977, and played on the Lynn English High Football team, receiving a varsity letter in football. Upon graduation he graduated from the Washburn University in Topeka, KS, where he also played football. He then received a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Arizona, and worked as an accountant for the State of California. He was a member and supporter of the International Labor Union, and was the holder of multiple State Patents.
He traveled extensively, including to Peru, China, Israel and Columbia. He loved music and followed sports, especially the Boston teams, the Patriots, the Celtics and the Red Sox.
Robert was the author of two books, and was especially proud of “Jesus and the Time Travelers”.
He also leaves five brothers William Mason and his wife Helen of Bridgewater, Ernest Mason and his wife Marilyn of Wells, ME, Donald Mason and his wife Jeanne of Lynn, Thomas Mason of Salem, and Dennis Mason and his wife Terri of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 9AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10AM.
