Rita Legere

Agnes “Rita” (Glidden) Legere, age 86, of Lynnfield, formerly of Lynn, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerard P. Legere with whom she shared 33 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, she was daughter of the late Henry and Mary (McGovern) Glidden.

Rita was the devoted mother of Michele O’Keefe and her husband Don, Mark Legere, and the late Paul Legere, the cherished grandmother “Goo-Goo” of Caroline, Rene, Kathleen, Jennifer, Matthew, Tyler Grae, and Roman, the great grandmother of Gavin, Nathan, Logan, Mason, and Emerson, the dear sister of Margaret Murano, and is predeceased by her other siblings Henry Glidden, Edward Glidden, Mary Glidden, James Glidden, Helen Glidden, Catherine Glidden, Joseph Glidden, and Esther Murray. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Rita grew up in Lynn, graduating from St. Mary’s Girls High School with the class of 1956. She was an Inspector for General Electric and Ametek for 25 years. She enjoyed classic movies, listening to Elvis (her birthday twin), doing crossword puzzles, cooking, and greatly cherished her time spent with family and friends.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Rita’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 10:30 am in the St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn, please meet directly at church. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
