Born in Lynn on October 28, 1938, he was the son of the late John R. and Marian E. (Vredenburgh) Needham. He lived in Saugus all of his life. He graduated from Saugus High School, Class of 1959. He played saxophone in the High School Band.
Richard worked as a machine operator for U. S. Plastics of Lynn.
He was an active member of the East Baptist Church in Lynn. For many years he was a Ranger in the Christian Service Brigade.
He was also a member of the DeMolay.
Richard was the brother of the late Joanne Price, Ruth Arnold, John Needham, Robert Needham, and Frank “Butch” Boardman. Also he will be greatly missed and loved by his many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 AM to 11:30 AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, followed by a Funeral Service in the East Baptist Church, 300 Western Avenue, Lynn, at 12:00 PM. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.
