Richard L. Banville, 84, of Peabody, and Merritt Island, FL passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Joanne C. (Imprescia) Banville with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. They shared their home with their cherished chiweenie, Macy. Born in Salem, Richard was the son of the late Albert and Adrienne (Bolduc) Banville.
He was a devoted father to Renee Banville of Sanford, ME, Michelle Braillard and her husband Walter “Tripp” of Hamilton, Christopher Banville of Ipswich, Phyllis Moats and her husband Jayson of Merritt Island, FL, Joanna Milden and her husband Walter “Gator” of Merritt Island, FL, Jeremiah Manfra and his wife Gina of Peabody, and Joseph Manfra of Seabrook, NH. He was a cherished grandfather to Margot, Hadley, Rex, Robert and his wife, Emma, Amy, Matthew, Katherine and her fiancé Evan, Alicia and her husband Ryan, Austin and his wife Gabriela, Alexander, Deana and her husband Greg, Michelle and her husband Danny, Jeremiah, Haleigh and her husband Derek, and Tyler. Richard adored his great-grandchildren Audrey, Giuliana, Isabella, Cloe, Dante, Genaro, Jackson, Nico, Luke and Salvi. Richard was a dear brother to Kim Burns and Paul Banville and his wife Jean, and he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Richard is predeceased by his infant sons, Timothy and Mark.
He grew up in Salem, graduating from St. Mary’s High School with the Class of 1958 and attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and graduated with the class of 1962. Richard served in the United States Army Reserve, he was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for many years at his Church. Richard was a high school teacher in Salem, NH until he fulfilled one of his dreams of owning his own drug store, Conley’s in Ipswich. He then moved onto Beverly Hospital as a Pharmacist until his retirement. Richard built a lifetime of memories traveling with his wife to many countries around the world. Of all his accomplishments, his greatest joy in life was watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. We will always remember summers spent in Maine, Sunday dinners, and holidays, all made special by the joy he brought to his family.

Richard's Funeral Mass will held on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Parish, 71 Central Street, Stoneham. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden.
