Peter Michael Dalton, 67, of Swampscott, passed away Thursday June 23, 2016. Born in Beverly, Peter was the son the late Edward P. and Anna M. (Gleason) Dalton. He was the beloved husband of 42 years, of Irene E. (Wezdecki) Dalton of Swampscott; the loving father of Meaghan Janger and her husband, Matthew of Arlington, Kathryn Walsh and her husband, Brian of Milton and Kelly Dalton and her partner, Erin Cooney of Brooklyn, NY; the dear brother of Dr. Edward P. Dalton, Jr. and his wife, Anne, David Dalton, Mark Dalton and his wife, Jenny, all of New Hampshire, and Guru Jai Singh and his wife Tera Khalsa of New Mexico; and the cherished grandfather of Liam, Teddy and Quinn Walsh and Max, Sophie, Lily and Finn Janger. Peter is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Peter graduated from St. Mary’s Grammar School in Beverly and St. John’s Prep in Danvers, with the class of 1966. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College with the class of 1970. Peter ran track and played baseball at St. John’s and was a member of the golf team at B.C. He was a girls’ basketball coach for St. John the Evangelist’s C.Y.O. in Swampscott for many years and also coached the St. John’s Prep. Golf team for several years. Peter was a former member of the Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead and won many championships there while he was a member. Peter had a very successful career in sales for RAM Golf, Ben Hogan Company, VFA in Boston and was the founder and CEO of ProQuip USA. In his early career years he was an Assistant Pro at Topsfield Country Club, now Ferncroft, and Oyster Harbors Country Club in Osterville.
Peter’s Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey St., Swampscott. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow in Swampscott Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn.
