Michael passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 8th 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Lynn, MA and later resided in Georgetown, MA. After graduating high school, he apprenticed as a locksmith, later becoming a Master Locksmith. In 1997 he opened his own business, Mike’s Quality Locksmith Service, in Lynn where he enjoyed greeting and conversing with his customers in their native languages, always making them feel welcomed.
He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. His exceptional knowledge of geography and world capitals, and his love of comedy could make anyone smile. He participated in local theater at the North Shore Music Theater and The Marblehead Little Theater. Mike loved playing pool and became Captain of his team in the APA pool league. He always enjoyed a great game of chess, challenging puzzles, and loved playing hockey and baseball. But most of all he loved spending time with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Reneé (Fogarty) McLaughlin and his children Daniel and Emily of Georgetown.
He is also survived by his brother, Richard McLaughlin Jr. of Lynn, and his sisters Cheryl McLaughlin of Peabody, and Sharon (McLaughlin) Fogarty and her husband Terence of Lynn.
He was the son of the late Richard and Jean (Frazier) McLaughlin. He is survived by his father’s sister Kathleen (McLaughlin) Troisi and her husband Joseph, his mother’s brothers William Justus Frazier, Joseph Frazier, and Robert Frazier and his wife Phyllis, and sister Ellen O’Neil, among many loved cousins and friends.
He is also survived by his wife’s family including his brothers in law, Keith and spouse Beatrice (Masterson) Fogarty of Norwood; Brian and his spouse Phyllis (Ziff) Fogarty of Georgetown; Terence and his wife Sharon (McLaughlin) Fogarty of Lynn; Christopher and his spouse Heather (Larrabee) Fogarty of Peabody; and his sister in law Ann (Cashman) Fogarty of Lynn whose spouse, Kevin Fogarty predeceased him. He was also the dear uncle of Ellen (Fogarty) Wall and her husband Tom Wall of Medfield; John, Jason and Erin Fogarty of Norwood; Meghan and Dylan Fogarty of Georgetown; Brendan and Nicole Fogarty of Lynn; Sarah and Thomas Fogarty of Peabody and grand nephew, Thomas Wall Jr. of Medfield.
Visiting hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Pius V Church, 215 Maple Street, Lynn. Please meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
