Michael J. Chalmers, 80, of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 2, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia F (Grant) with whom he shared 42 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, Mike was the son of the late James and Elaine (Zorbas) Chalmers. He grew up in Lynn, graduating from Lynn Classical High School with the class of 1960. He was self-employed as a Pepsi Distributor and co-owner of Palladin Amusement Center on the Lynnway. His love of horses inspired him to buy his own horse, Sir Lancelot, which led him to a career as the Assistant Track Superintendent at Suffolk Downs Racetrack for many years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Lynn Elks Club and on the Board of Directors of the Greater Lynn Friends of Special Needs Citizens.
He enjoyed golfing with friends and family, vacationing throughout the Caribbean, and also enjoyed the companionship of his Welsh Corgis, MacGreggor and MacDougal. He loved to spend time with his family above all else, always hosting holidays and family celebrations.
He is survived by his sons, James Chalmers and his wife Alicia of Lynn, Michael Chalmers and his wife Jessica of Lynn, and daughter Alexis and her husband Scott Quinn of Palm City, Florida He was the cherished grandfather of Michael J. Chalmers, Mary Fountain, Meaghan Chalmers, Alaina Chalmers, Madeline Chalmers and Declan Quinn; and great grandfather of Maximus Fountain, Cannon Chalmers and Xia Phoeuk. He also leaves his devoted friend Betty Catanese. He is predeceased by his sister, Priscilla Provanzano, and survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to Mike's Visitation on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A service will be held for Mike the following morning at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial to immediately follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
