After graduating from Ste. Chretienne Academy, she went on to Emmanuel College, graduating in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Mary briefly taught in Hillsborough, NH, and then returned in 1949 to Lynn and taught at Aborn School until she started her family. She and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Coulon Vending Company, when her children were older, she returned to Lynn schools as the chief lunch aide at Brickett School for 15 years.
She was a dedicated communicant of St. Joseph’s Parish and volunteered for many organizations ranging from church groups, schools, and various community groups. The Goldfish Pond Association and their annual flea market was especially dear to her. Mary never passed up a good yard sale. Mary enjoyed traveling near and far, always willing to pack her bags and go. She chaperoned trips to Spain and France with her grandchildren, traveled to Ireland, and other countries, and she took many road trips all over the U.S. If organizations were having a convention, you could count Mary in. She was always willing to give anyone a ride anywhere. She had an appreciation for the arts and enjoyed treating her family to shows and plays from Beverly to Boston and beyond.
Mary leaves behind her five children, John and Joan Coulon, Paul and Pauline Coulon, Peter and Anne Coulon, Anne Marie and Richard Pollard, Joan and Dennis Camilio, her twelve grandchildren, and her eight great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mary Canning, her brother, Fr. James Canning, and her husband, Robert Coulon.
Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her Funeral Mass will follow on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 10:00 in St. Mary’s Church, 8 S Common St, Lynn, please meet directly at church. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
