Leona Kelly

Mrs. Leona J. (Masse) Kelly, age 79, of Lynn, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late John D. Kelly, Sr, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Fitchburg, she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Rita M. (Poirier) Masse. She graduated from Lynn English High School and remained a lifelong resident.

Leona worked at Western-N-All and sold Country and Western Wear at Jamborees. She enjoyed cooking and volunteered at the Sacred Heart Church Food Pantry. She was also a member of the Lynn Senior Center and the VFW Post 507 Auxiliary. Leona was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius V church for many years, and was very involved in their ministries. Leona will be remembered for her great love of animals, especially her dog, Molly.

Leona is survived by her children John D. Kelly, Jr. and his wife Marie of Danvers, and Rita M. Grussi and her husband Sergio of Lynn; her sister Shirley Tranfaglia and her husband Charles of Florida; her grandchildren, Cassandra Grussi, Sergio Grussi, II, Savannah Connor, Angel Torres, and Mason Kelly; her 7 great-grandchildren; best friend Donald and his wife Peggy Harvey; and many nieces and nephews, especially Jennifer DiGregorio.

In addition to her husband, Leona is predeceased by her daughter Denise A. Torres, and her sister Janet Lilly.

Friends and family are invited to attend Leona’s visitation on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 9:30 AM from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
