Donna M. “Dee” Whittemore-Farris, age 74, of Saugus, died on Friday, July 12, 2024. She was the wife of the late Everett F. Farris, Jr. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Irving J. and Dorothy I. (Montgomery) Whittemore.
She graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School and in 1990 received an Associate’s Degree from Marian Court Junior College, Swampscott. Dee was a machinist at the G.E. River Works Plant for 20 years, was a member of I.U.E. local 201, AFL-CIO, and retired in 2015. Dee was a Mass. Certified Home Health Aide, and a National American Red Cross Health Aide. She was a foster parent for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1968. She cared for over 15 children. She was also a former caregiver for Northeast A.R.C. and was a member of the National Foster Parents Association. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America, New England Region Chaplain and Treasurer of the Gold Star Wives of America of Greater Boston. Dee was Past Commander of D.A.V.A. Chapter 64, Lynn. She was a Friend of Commander Farrell of the U. S. S. Constitution and Honorary member of Procopio Post 210, American Legion, Saugus. Dee was a past officer of the Women’s Loyal Order of Moose, Salem, and a member of the Revere Lodge 1272 Loyal Order of Moose. She was a social member of Fox Hill Yacht Club, Saugus. She was also a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Lynn.
Dee was the mother of Richard C. Clegg of Skowhegan, ME, Hailey D. Johnson of Groton, Cody-Turk Farris of Saugus, Everett F. Farris, III of Manchester-by-the-Sea and of the late Deidre Farris and Dusty J. Farris, the sister of William J. Elwell of Peabody and of the late Ronald R. Elwell and Beverly A. Norfolk, the grandmother of Elijah Farris of Gloucester and of the late Nicole Clegg, the mother-in-law of the late Arlene Clegg, the Godmother of Justin Johnson and Kaitlain Moore, and also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Her Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 11:00 am in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are invited and are asked to gather inside the Boston Street Gate.
