Bradford “Brad” Conrad Green, age 61, of Hampton, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1963 to the late Jack Green and Susan (Boyd) Green.
Brad grew up in Ipswich and Georgetown, graduating from Masconomet High School, and then he went on to further his education earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s Degree in English and History. Brad taught briefly as an adjunct at Salem State but he spent his career teaching in high schools, including Lynn Vocational Technical High School in the English Department. Teaching was his life and literature he believed to be the true history of the world.
Brad traveled the world and lived in Australia, studied in England, and visited over a dozen Caribbean Islands. He adored England and was in awe when visiting the Martello Tower in Ireland where Joyce’s Ulysses begins its epic journey. Greece was also a great place where Brad was able to visit the Acropolis, as was Paris where he was able to see the many apartments where Joyce lived and would write his Opus, Ulysses.
Brad leaves behind his devoted wife, Barbara Guiffre, the true love of his life, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage, his sister Kelly Vivak, sisters-in-law Anna Anderson and her husband Doug, and Marion Guiffre, nieces, Christina and Maria, and nephews, Dougie and David, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, Brad was predeceased by his brother, Brian Green.
During Brad’s final year of his courageous cancer battle, it was these relatives and his peers at school, along with the students who kept his spirit alive and thriving. Brad believed there was nothing more important than education.
Brad looks forward to the next chapter in the afterworld and meeting up with many who have gone before him. Having spent the last year playing with his yorkies and never far from his wife’s side, he considered his life a blessing and he appreciated all the kindness afforded him by the many beautiful people he has known. To his students, he would say “do your best; life will reward you”
Of all his successes, Brad is the most proud of his sobriety. He began that journey on March 24, 2008, a feat possible only because of the many who supported him, especially his sponsor, Dan Belkas. God Bless you all.
A Graveside Service will be held for Brad on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 190 Lynnfield Street, Lynn. Please meet inside the main gate.
