Mrs. Ann E. (Daley) Thompson, age 90, of Swampscott, died peacefully on Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Luke E. “Red” Thompson.
Ann was the daughter of the late Richard and Alice (Kelly) Daley. Born in Lynn, she spent her early years in College Point, Flushing, NY. She later returned to Lynn, graduating from Lynn English High School Class of 1940, and was then a resident of Swampscott for over 70 years.
During World War II, Ann worked as an Inspector at General Electric Co. and later was employed as a Stewardess for Northeast Airlines. She was also a member of the Mother of Twins Club and a communicant of St. John’s Church in Swampscott. Following the death of her husband Red in 1960 and raising her seven children, Ann continued her education earning her Degree from North Shore Community College in 1975.
Her life was punctuated with so many happy moments shared with family and friends, among them her trip to Ireland celebrating her 85th birthday and her Irish heritage.
Ann is survived by her children, Terrence Thompson of Harrison, ME, Kevin Thompson of Swampscott, Colleen Thompson-Wilkens and her husband Peter of Marblehead and Kathleen Canavan and her husband Paul of Marblehead. She was the mother-in-law of Robert Ingram and Patricia Kane of Swampscott, Deborah Thompson of Haverhill, Judith Thompson of Worcester, and Margaret Thompson of Milford. Ann is also survived by her loving grandchildren Janice Thompson-Scobie, Luke, Ben, and Diane Thompson, Terrance P. Thompson, Matthew Thompson, Robert and Matthew Ingram, Casey Frein, Kelly McCann and Katie Theriault, her 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Ann will now be reunited with her husband Red, and her children Luke and Timothy Thompson, and Maureen Ingram as well as her brothers Richard and James Daley and her sisters Mary Otting, Alice Chase and Florence Hill.
Ann’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Monday at 10:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 11:30AM.
