Born in Lynchburg on August 27, 1956 he was a son of the late William Burnette, Sr. and Christine Burnette. He was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church, a graduate of EC Glass High School and was employed with NB Handy for over 35 years. Billy was a quiet natured person until you got to know him. Spending time with his family was most important to him. Billy was a selfless person, always putting family first. He loved attending his children’s games and activities and loved to be outdoors, camping and watching baseball. To know Billy was to know that his kids and grandson were his greatest accomplishments.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael G. Burnette
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, William Travis Burnette and his wife Lauryn, and grandson, Levi William Burnette; and his daughter, Carley Jo Burnette; a sister, Susan Burnett and wife Diane; brother-in-law, Kent Stanley and his wife Barbara, sister-in-law, Peggie Simpson and her husband Wayne; nieces and nephews, Brandon and Brooke Stanley, Lori Beth and Chris Anderson, Chris and Jodi Simpson and Scott Stanley; great nieces and nephews, Camden and Kendall Stanley, Miles and Carter Anderson, and Julia and Joseph Simpson; Julia and Joseph Simpson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many closes friends that Billy considered "family".
And as Dad would say "I am Fine"
A memorial service will be conducted 12:00 pm Monday, January 31, 2022 at Timberlake United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service at the Church.
