He was born on September 28, 1948 to the late Ruth C. Hawksworth and Welton H. Lewis. He was raised by his great aunt, the late Pearl Lawhorne and her husband Charlie Lawhorne. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Susie Roberts; his brother, Fred H. Lewis; his brother-in-law Nick Ford; his sister, Blanche Ford; his brother, Kenneth Lewis; and his sister-in-law, Karen Lewis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three daughters; Lisa L. Eagle (J.D.), Karen Archer, Jennifer A. McConnell (David); a slew of grandchildren, Zach, Matthew, Kailey, Konner, Nicole, Ashley, Amber, Kris, Jonathon, Anthony, T.J., Savannah, Kace, and Stella; great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Hunter, Camden, Bryson, Calum, Landon, Mason, Emerald, Willow, Aiden, Skylor and Addie; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving sister Marie Carwile (Page).
A celebration of Welton’s life will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m with Pastor George Harris officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the home of Lisa and John Eagle.
