Wayne M. Johnson Sr.

Wayne Morrell Johnson, Sr., of Huddleston, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Born on June 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Olney Johnson and Bertie Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Johnson. He was a retired truck driver and had truck driving in his blood. He loved to spend time outdoors including fishing at the beach and hunting season. He never met a stranger and was an excellent storyteller. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patsy S. Johnson; four daughters, Tammy Busch (Jimmy), Kelly Wrenn (Darrin), Della Jarrett (Adam), Sandra Finch (Brian) and one son, Wayne M. Johnson, Jr.; grandchildren, Charles W. Preston III (Shaina), Roscoe Mitchell (Cassie) and Meghan Lanza; great-grandchildren, India Preston, River Preston, Breyonna Mitchell, Levi Mitchell, Caley Coleman and Nancy Preston; one sister, Carol Maddox and many great friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Bedford Hospice for the love and compassion they showed to Wayne. A funeral service celebrating his life will be conducted on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor J. Mike Dodson officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
