Ruth Bagby Carwile, 89, of Rustburg, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Runk & Pratt Assisted Living at Liberty Ridge. She was the wife of the late Vivian Jones “Brip” Carwile.
Born August 29, 1928 in Rustburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hassie Hunt Bagby and was also preceded in death by her son, Samuel McWayne “Mack” Carwile; three brothers, Melvin, Charles, and Floyd Bagby and a sister, Rachel Talley. She was a retired seamstress with Courtland Manufacturing and was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carwile is survived by a sister, Lorene B. Cox of Rustburg; two sisters-in-laws, Kathleen Bagby of Rustburg and Louise Carwile of Lynchburg and numerous special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Carwile’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at New Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Dooley officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
