Born in Lynchburg, September 11, 1972, he was the son of the late Charles Leadow DeMent and Emily Geraldine DeMent. Michael was a 1990 graduate of Heritage High School and was an employee of the United States Postal Service for the past 20 years.
Survivors include his sister, Rebecca Lynn DeMent Hammock of Forest; two brothers, Charles Leadow DeMent, Jr. of Lynchburg and Patrick Ray DeMent of Evington; Seven nieces and nephews, Christopher Lee Hammock, Emily Joann Hammock, Nicholas David Hammock, Sean Michael DeMent, Alec Wade DeMent and Patrick Joseph DeMent, and his best friend, Ed Thomas.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
