Kenneth Reid Silby

Thank you Accordius and Affinity Hospice for taking such great care of him and helping us through this. Everyone we spoke with said what a sweet man he was and he was well loved by his new caretakers. You are all so appreciated. A special thank you to Crystal and several other Accordius employees that were so helpful the day he passed and Jennifer of Hospice for the farewell guitar singing and love you shared with us.

Kenneth was a favorite uncle of Eddie Boyles and Mary Campbell. A story passed down is that Mary Alice spoke the words Kenney before Mom or Dad! We are so grateful to have had him closer to home so we could visit him more often these last few months. Eddie always took him fresh home brewed coffee and a real mug to share with him, a true gift for Kenneth who LOVED his coffee, a family trait.

He was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He was a tender hearted man that got a bit overwhelmed by life; many times his “coping” skills were challenged or questioned, yet he never lost that innate tenderness. A loving, kind man with a good heart and good intentions, sorta like most of us I’d say. As Eddie says, he is the last of our elders for our generation. Guess this makes us the new elders for our descendants and our hope is to do the best we can by them.

He is survived by one son, Kenneth R. Silby, Jr. and wife Tricia; one daughter, Tammy Kelly and husband Scott; five grandchildren and a number of other extended family and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
