Nécrologie de Katherine "Kitty" Grace Shaner
Our loving mother, Katherine “Kitty” Grace Shaner, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday May 24, 2023 at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan. She was survived by her four daughters; Tiffany Martin, Crystal Larcom, Chivonne Collins, and Angela Bevins, eight grandchildren; Nathaniel, Dylan, Kayleigh, Ian, Arianna, Shane, Grace, Lilly; her brother Johnny and his family, and by her many loving friends. In addition to her family, some of her greatest joys in life were traveling, music, dancing, and reading and listening to books. She loved taking hot baths, laughing, being silly, amusement parks, game nights, and loving animals. She also had a deep love for the water, which provided peace and calmness to her. She had a 27 year career with the U.S. Post Office, where she made lifelong friends and was soon to retire. After retiring, she planned on buying an RV and traveling, so she could enjoy her time freely and live life to the fullest. She was an incredibly hard worker. She never gave up, even when times were extremely hard. She always put a smile on her face and continued on. We all gained strength from her. Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising us, her four daughters. She devoted her life to us. Our pain was her pain; our joy was her joy. She felt everything we felt. Our bond will always be unbreakable. She was our best friend. She taught us love and grace, how to be brave, to never give up when times get tough, and to look at life as an adventure. Her unending love for us taught us to always give love to all, and to help others when needed. She was our strength, our comfort, our peace, our protector, and the sunshine to our rain. She believed in us, and always taught us to believe in ourselves. She was beautiful even if she didn’t always believe it herself. The beauty we saw in her shined way beyond appearances; it was her soul, her heart, the calmness in her voice, and the smile on her face. Her presence just made our lives easier. When she became, “MawMaw” she was introduced to a new kind of love; an unconditional love that was so evident in the way she cared for all of her grandchildren. She was a very attentive and playful MawMaw. Their needs became her needs. They all adored and loved her. This beautiful woman will always be known as our hero, as she saved all of us in her own way. She was the bravest person we had ever known. She sacrificed so much for us. She was selfless and always put others’ needs before her own. She was so humble and always brought peace and comfort to those around her. Her honesty and loyalty always shined through. She never gave up on any of us. She always gave her all, and fought every day, in spite of being in pain. She was the backbone of this family. It was beyond evident that her family was her most prized possession. She would say, “Making memories meant more than material possessions.” Mom, we now know you are travelling in heaven with Ryan, making more memories and saying to us that you’re, “on the road again.” Our lives will never be the same, but we will forever hold our beautiful mother close to our hearts and cherish all the memories. You will be forever missed. We will always LOVE YOU MORE. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.whittentimberlake.com for the Shaner family.
