John Lewis Goff, 72, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born in Bedford Co., he was the son of the late William Clay Goff and the late Elizabeth Goff Goff. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Clay Goff, Jr. and Calvin Curtis Goff.
John was a retired machinist for Flowserve Corp. after 44 years of service and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his good friend of 25 years, Elizabeth B. Saunders whose three children survive him; Angela White of Lynchburg, Roy Saunders, Jr. and Kevin Saunders, both of Madison Heights, their six children and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Eleanor G. Stanley of Goode, her children and other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2014, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with military honors by American Legion Post 16..
The family will receive friends after the service and at other times at the residence of his nephew, Jay Campbell, 4430 Roaring Run Rd., Goode, VA 24556.
