Woody was born in Lynchburg, September 7, 1988. He was a graduate of Jefferson Forest High School where he played football all four years. He was a farrier and began shoeing horses with his father at the age of 14. He was an outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone, and was known for his smile and contagious laughter. Woody was an organ donor
and he never met a stranger. He was a friend to all who met him.
He is survived by his parents, John C. Bare and Mary Witt Bare; his wife Kelsey Leigh Bare; his son, John C. “Johnny” Bare, III; his daughter, Madison Ellen Bare; his sister, Crystal Anielski and her husband Kevin; his brother, Chris Andrews; three nephews, Jacob Donald, Joshua Donald and Jordan Donald, add a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service celebrating his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Stewart Mitchell and Rev. Dwight Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Leffler Memorial Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
A reception following the service will be held at the Forest Recreation Center, 1088 Rustic Village Rd., Forest, VA.
Woody was a consistent donor to the St. Jude Children’s Research hospital and the family request memorial contributions be made to St. Jude in his memory, www.stjude.org.
