Jimmy Dale Thompson, Sr. 59, of Lynchburg, passed away, Friday, May 16, 2014, at his residence. Born April 29, 1955, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Eva Mae Coffey Thompson.
Jimmy was an electrical worker for J.B. Moore Electrical Contractors and he was a member of Jordan Baptist Church.
Jimmy is survived by his two sons, Jimmy D. Thompson, Jr. (Heather) and Michael Thompson (Amanda), both of Lynchburg; three step-children, Renae Spradlin of North Carolina, Danny Spradlin of Lynchburg and Orlando Spradlin of Concord; five siblings, John “Junior” Thompson (Faye) of Lynchburg, Danny Thompson (Pat) of Afton, Freddie Thompson (Dianne) of Missouri, Sharon T. Campbell (Ernest) of Pamplin and Brenda Coleman (Ken) of Rustburg; his former wife, Patricia Thompson of Lynchburg; three granddaughters; seven step-grandchildren; two step- great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted, 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Campbell and the Rev. Carlton Dunn, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mountaintop Christian Church Cemetery in Love, VA.
The family will receive friends, 7-9p.m., Monday, May 19, 2014, at Whitten Park Avenue Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
