Born April 10, 1960 Jerry dedicated 21 years to working as an iron worker for Griffin Pipe, where he remained employed for 21 years. After leaving the pipe company, he transitioned into a new career as an event support manager at Liberty University, where he worked for another 18 years. Throughout his working life, Jerry remained deeply committed to his faith and was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church for over two decades. His relationship with his Lord and Savior was an integral part of his identity. Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Jerry had a few hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He was an avid fan of classic cars, with a particular affinity for the iconic 1955 Chevrolet model. He also was a true fan of the acclaimed “tough-guy” actor John Wayne. Another passion of Jerry's was NASCAR. He loved everything about the sport, Dale Earnhardt Sr. being his favorite driver, and he would follow his races with great excitement. Jerry loved his family and made sure they felt his love for them, especially his grandchildren whom affectionately called him Papa. Jerry loved being a grandfather and would often brag on his grandchildren. Overall, Jerry led a full and fulfilling life, one that was defined by his dedication to his work, his faith, his family, and his hobbies.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Alston Brooks Sr.; his step-father Ed Farrar; and his sister Tina Falls.
Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory include his loving wife Tina Brooks; his son Jerry Alston Brooks III and his wife Jessica; his mother Evelyn Farrar; his grandchildren Abel, Jack-Benson and Adler; his sisters Ann Langhorne, Shirley Marcus and her husband Danny and Patricia Wood and her husband Ronnie and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life and faith will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 11:00 am at Thomas Road Baptist Church - Pate Chapel officiated by Pastor Rick Rasberry.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
