He was born on September 28, 1928 in Appomattox County, son of the late Hurley and Annie Trent. He was the last of six children being preceded in death by, Hurley T. Trent, Pauline T. Thornbill, Eliabeth Thornbill, Frant Trent and Mary Howard.
David was a member of New Chapel Baptist Church, was retired from Smith Transfer Company and was a proud Air Force veteran having served during Korea. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports, especially baseball. He helped start the Rustburg Little League.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 72 years, Loraine B. Trent; three sons, David E. Trent, Jr., Raymond A. Trent, and Tony D. Trent; three daughters, Marilyn T. Phalman (Thomas), Linda T. Laughlin (Darrell) and Carolyn F. Trent as well as seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, December 27, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at New Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials in David’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
