Born in Madison Heights, December 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Herman David Stinson and Viola Marks Stinson. Charles grew up in Madison Heights and was ordained at Madison Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. Hugh Bumgarner. He served in ministry for 43 years, 35 of which he pastored North Bedford Baptist Church. Preaching was one of his great delights in life. Charles also authored three books, two of them about his hometown of Madison Heights. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Irene Reynolds Stinson and his grandson, Adam Hooper.
He is survived by three children, Charles Michael Stinson and his wife Tanya of Dillwyn, Rebecca Stinson Hooper and her husband Tony of Forest and Timothy Linwood Stinson and his wife Paola of Cary, NC; and five grandchildren, Cassidy Stinson, Jeremy Stinson, Anna Stinson, Julie Hooper and Emma Stinson.
A service celebrating his life and faith will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2022 at North Bedford Baptist Church with Pastor Chad Brady officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
