Ann Almond Lewis, 84, of Lynchburg, passed away May 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Major USMC Ret., Marion Edward Lewis.
Born January 14, 1929, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Eddie M. Almond and Mary Anderson Almond. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Hoskins Almond; and a sister, Ida Dove Almond Bibb.
Mrs. Lewis and her husband were graduates of Holy Cross Catholic School where they met and were married. In her later years she became a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church. She was a student of Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging, while in Hawaii, and was known for her wonderful arrangements.
Survivors include three children, Karen D. Lobato (her late husband Filbert), of Cortez, CO, and Marilyn Renee Lewis Marcy and husband Kenneth, of Minneola, FL, and Michael Wayne Lewis, of CO; two brothers, L. Thomas Almond and wife Doris, of Lynchburg, and Clarence E. Almond and wife Wilma, of TN; and a sister, Mae A. Foster and husband Warren, of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Nathan Mark Pell, Jared Lewis Lobato, and Michael Edward Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Hope Pell, and Halee Pell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Mrs. Lewis will be laid to rest with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 prior to the funeral service at the funeral home, on Thursday.
