Memorial service for Ronnie Runnels, 70, of Zavalla, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Zavalla, Texas.

Ronnie was born October 27, 1952 in Lufkin, Texas, son to Laura Beth (Bentley) and Elton Foy Runnels. He passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, TX.

Mr. Runnels enjoyed being a truck driver for many years. Before his retirement he enjoyed driving the back roads of Zavalla. Ronnie was a Marine that proudly served in the military.

Survivors include his mother, Laura Beth Runnels; daughter, Wenda Sheffield; grandchildren, Joshua Walton, Jacob Walton, Jenna Cortez and husband, Jonathan, Samuel Syzdek, and Brianna Cowan; brothers, Chris Runnels and wife Patricia, Lenn Runnels and wife, Jonis; nephews, Shawn Runnels, Richard Runnels, T.J. Runnels, and Caleb Runnels; nieces, Nikki Runnels and Tonya Newkirk; and long term dog friend, Rusty; and other cousins and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his father; and daughter, Gena Walton.
