Richard R. " Dick " Tharp

Memorial services for Richard R. “Dick” Tharp, 83, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 18, 2013 at Pinecrest Retirement Community in Lufkin with The Reverend Arthur A. Callaham officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in South Park Cemetery, Pearland, Texas.

Mr. Tharp was born May 30, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas, the son of the late Loie (Reeves) and Blucher Tharp. He passed away November 15, 2013 in Lufkin.

He is survived by his wife, Marla Tharp of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Greer of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Bill Calhoun of Nevada; granddaughter, Meredith Brown; grandson, Rick Baty; granddaughter, Madisyn Calhoun; grandson, Ian Greer; great-grandsons, Brandon Brown, William and Edric Baty; great-granddaughter, Rowan Baty, brother, Blucher Tharp, Jr. and wife Betty.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Ricky Tharp.

Pallbearers will be Larry Greer, Alan Hunt and Rick Baty.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Gipson Funeral Home.
